Pokemon Overview Type -Normal -Flying x2 Weaknesses -Rock -Electric -Ice x2 Resistances -Bug -Grass x0 Immunities -Ground -Ghost Base Stats HP - 85 Attack - 50 Defence - 95 Sp. Attack - 120 Sp. Defence - 115 Speed - 80 Traits Hustle: Damage from physical attacks is 1.5 times, but average accuracy is only 80%. Serene Grace: The chances of a move having an effect doubles. Movesets Serene Grace Togekiss (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 248 HP/44 Spd/216 SDef Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Air Slash - Nasty Plot - Thunder Wave - Roost Gameplay: This is the most common set you'll see Togekiss using. And for good reason. Serene Grace doubles Air Slash's flinch rate meaning everything that's slower than Togekiss has an 60% to do nothing. And that's where Thunder Wave comes in play. Not only it renders your opponent slower allowing you to pick him up easily with Air Slash while taking advantage or Roost's side effect, it also leaves him with a mere 30% chance to land a hit. Get this in on anything that can't pose a threat to Togekiss, notably tanks such as Swampert and Celebi, and then proceed to Thunder Wave the incoming counter. Once most of the opposing team is paralysed, this Togekiss can work like a cleaner, flinching everything to death, while Nasty Plot allows you to pack a much stronger punch needed to get through non-toxic Blissey amongst others. Air Slash: If it wasn't for Air Slash this set would be non existant. Roost: Gets rid off all of Togekiss's weaknesses, allowing you to recover off damage in front of Electric and Ice Attacks with relative ease. Not only does it add durability to Togekiss, it also gives him more opportunities to Nasty Plot, and with that, to clean the game. Thunder Wave: Not only does it grant you the Speed advantage that Togekiss desires so much, it also further boosts your opponent's inablity to move. As mentioned already, your opponent will now have an abysmal 30% chance to move. Nasty Plot: Boosts Togekiss's moves by 2 levels allowing it to take out huge chunks of HP from pretty much everything. Once most of the opponent team is paralysed, then and only then, reveal Nasty Plot. By that time countering Togekiss won't be an available option for your opponent. Plot Sweeper Togekiss (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 100 HP/192 Spd/216 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Nasty Plot - Air Slash - Aura Sphere - Roost / Fire Blast Gameplay: This set is for those who aren't feeling lucky enough to pull of the first set. Both the ''Serene Grace'' and ''Plot Sweeper'' sets work in a similar manner. While the former relies on its own to paralyse the opponent team, the latter relies on Thunder Wave support from its teammates. Although not necessary it is highly reccomended that you provide this Togekiss with as much paralysis support as you can get. The only downside of this set is that two top Overused Pokemon, those being Zapdos and Rotom-A resist both of Togekiss's moves, thus meaning that you need to get rid of them before attempting a sweep. Nasty Plot: Boosts Togekiss's already tremendous Special Attack stat to the levels of 726, allowing Air Slash and Aura Sphere to destroy everything in their path. Air Slash: Togekiss's Bread & Butter move. Even without Thunder Wave, it still poses a nice 60% chance to flinch its opponent. With that said, apply into your calculations that we are talking about a move that gets STAB and it also comes from an unboosted Special Attack stat of 363. Aura Sphere: Aura Sphere provides excellent type coverage with Air Slash, hitting Rocks and Steels for Super Effective, both of which resist Air Slash. Roost vs Fire Blast: Roost provides Togekiss with great durability, allowing you to resume a sweep again and again. It also enables you to beat non-toxic Blissey one on one. Fire Blast on the other hand, paired with a Nasty Plot boost, allows you to KO Metagross, Jirachi, Bronzong, Skarmory and for that matter Zapdos after Stealth Rock damage and Sandstorm. All of those could potentially be problematic for this set. Mixed Attacker Togekiss (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Hustle EVs: 252 Atk/192 Spd/64 SAtk Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def) - Extremespeed - Aura Sphere - Flamethrower - Aerial Ace / Grass Knot / Shadow Ball Gameplay: Play this in the same fashion you would with your everyday late game cleaner. Allow me to elaborate on how this moveset works. Hustle boosts the user's Attack by 1.5 in exchange to 20% of his accuracy. This means that now Togekiss can pack quite a punch in the physical side of the spectrum. STAB Extremespeed coming off 327 Attack gives you to revenge kill other sweepers with ease. Salamence, Latias, Infernape are all good examples of pesky sweepers that should tremble in front of this set. Extremespeed: Pretty much the best priority move in the game. With Hustle Togekiss can make great use of it, allowing it to revenge kill most pesky sweepers, while also giving it a move that compensates for its mediocre speed. Aura Sphere: While it also allows Togekiss to take out Steels and Rocks such as Tyranitar, this move also has the added plus of never missing. That way you also negate Hustle's side effect. Flamethrower: Preffered over Fire Blast due to Hustle's side effects. Flamethrower allows you to beat Steels and notably Skarmory which would otherwise gladly switch onto Extremespeed and wouldn't mind taking an unboosted Aura Sphere. Aerial Ace vs Grass Knot vs Shadow Ball: Aerial Ace is yet another move that cannot miss nullifying Hustle's side effect even further. It provides a STAB move which can easily take down Grass and Fighting types that think you lack a Flying attack. Grass Knot allows you to KO Swampert and severly hurt Hippowdon who otherwise walls this set Last but not least Shadow Ball allows you to beat Rotom-A, one of Togekiss's archnemesis. Choice Scarf Togekiss (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Air Slash - Aura Sphere - Fire Blast / Flamethrower / Tri Attack - Trick Gameplay: This moveset works in a similar fashion to the ''Plot Sweeper'' one while it can also serve your revenge killing needs. Early or late game it doesn't really matter when you reveal it to your opponent. Just make sure any Flying resists are out and the Special walls are crippled, and this thing will possibly finish the game. Air Slash: With Scarf's speed boost you are already faster than your opponent, and thus you can take advantage of Air Slash's flinch rate. Aura Sphere: As always Aura Sphere accompanied with Air Slash provide great attacking type coverage. It's worth noting that it also allows you to revenge kill Dragon Dance Tyranitar even after one boost. Fire Blast vs Flamethrower vs Tri Attack: It's here to cover Steels that would otherwise wall this set, as with previous sets. Flamethrower is also an option here, if you prefer the 100% accuracy in contrast to the boost in power. Tri Attack gives Scarf Togekiss a serious mean of hurting Zapdos hard, while Tri Attacks added effect is greatly boosted by Serene Grace. Trick: Trick allows you to cripple Special Walls such as Blissey whom love to switch onto this set's Attacks. Make sure you don't trick Scarf early on though as you'll miss your Speed boost, and with that, alot of the effectiveness of this set. Wish Togekiss (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 248 HP/84 Def/176 SDef Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Wish - Roost - Tri Attack - Flamethrower Gameplay: This is Togekiss attempting to support his fellow teammates. Although there are other most effective Wishers out there, Togekiss has one advantage over them. It can randomly status anything while still attacking hard against anything that tries to set up in front of it. Wish: This move allows you to heal any wounded ally. It is preferred that you use something that can take Ice and Rock Attacks with ease here, in order to fully take advantage of Togekiss's typing. Steels are great teammate candidates with this moveset. Roost: As always, Roost is here to cover your own needs. It is preffered to standard Wish Protect as it gets rid of Togekiss's weaknesses for the turn its used and thus allowing you to stall Burn and Poison damage inflincted to your enemies. Tri Attack: With Serene Grace Tri Attack packs a nice 40% chance to inflict either Paralysis, Burn or Freeze to your opponent. With that said, nothing is really safe switching in to this set. Flamethrower: While Aura Sphere could prove useful here, Flamethrower allows you to hit Ghosts too, and therefore has the advantage. With that, it's also worth noting that Flamethrower has an 20% chance to inflct Burn to your opponent. Psycho Shift Togekiss (M) @ Flame Orb Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 160 HP/96 Def/252 Spd Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Air Slash - Psycho Shift - Trick - Roost Gameplay: Psycho Shift is a move that passes any status inflincted on the user to the opponent. Flame Orb on the other hand, is an item that inflincts Burn status to the user. I think you already know where this is leading. Yea, Togekiss has an 100% Accuracy move to inflict Burn to your opponent with this set! Bring this in on Grass and neutral Special Attack moves, and spread Burn away. Should Blissey show up its face to absorb Psycho Shift? Simply Trick it your Flame Orb while you obtain Leftovers. That way she'll suffer unrecoverable Burn while simultaneously losing her leftovers damage. EV Explanation: Max Speed is preffered here for numerous reasons. It allows you to burn most physical threats before they can Attack you, therefore it also boosts your defense. Scizor, Lucario, Mamoswine, Gyarados are all slower than the Speed this moveset suggests, and are therefore crippled before they can land a hit on Togekiss. You can swap the Defense EVs for Special Defense ones, but since you are mostly aiming Physical threats, it is prefered that you boost your Physical Defense. Air Slash: Pretty much the best move you can use here. Since this set uses max Speed, why not take advantage of that with some flinches. Most Overused Guts users which will try to absorb Psycho Shift are already weak to Air Slash so if you predict one coming, you know what to do. Psycho Shift: Self explanatory really. Simply Psycho Shift Burns away. Trick: Trick is there to beat Blissey, and amongst others to destroy other Trick users. Roost: Enhances Togekiss's stamine giving you the opportunity to burn even more foes. It also packs the aforementioned added effect that grealy benefits this Pokemon. Opinion Togekiss is a greatly underrated Pokemon and without reason if you ask me. It can switch in on most non STABed Special Attack moves, Super Effective or not and simply proceed to setup on them with Thunder Wave, Air Slash and/or Nasty Plot. With that said it also packs a great recovery move which can be used in all of its Variants. To be honest i cannot think of a Pokemon that would make better use of Roost. Other Options A Light Clay moveset with Reflect and Light Screen could be used effectively with Togekiss's defense stats. Encoreis a good alternative to Flamethrower on the Wish moveset. Substitute, Focus Punch, Ominous Wind, Ancient Power, HIdden Power Rock, Yawn, Endeavor are all good options and i can definitely see Togekiss make good use of them. Counters Zapdos probably holds the number one place in countering most if not all of Togekiss movesets. It can switch in on an Air Slash or Aura Sphere with ease, while it can also nullify the paralysis speed drop with its own Thunder Wave, crippling Togekiss's flinching attempts. Rotom-A resist both of Togekiss's most common moves while it can respond with a STABed Super Effective Thunderbolt in return. On top of that it can also cripple Togekiss with Will-o-Wisp or Thunder Wave. Blissey can counter all of the Togekiss variants simply by statusing with either Toxic or Thunder Wave. It does have to fear Trick from the Scarf set and Extremespeed/Aerial Ace from the mixed set. Jolteon and Electivire both are immune to Thunder Wave and also outspeed Togekiss threatening with a STABed Electric move. Steel Types such as Metagross and Bronzong can switch in on Air Slash and Thunder Wave with ease, threatening with Meteor Mash and Gyro Ball respectively. They have to be beware of Fire Blast and Flamethrower movesets though.
